What is a MediMouse spinal measurement?

The MediMouse is a computer-assisted, hand-guided measuring device for functional spinal analysis. It records the shape, posture and mobility of your spine without radiation and non-invasively. Using optical light reflection it takes two data points per millimetre and builds a precise 3D model of your spine from them.

How does the spinal screening at Health+Life work?

You uncover your back and stand upright. The hand-guided device is moved along your spine from the seventh cervical vertebra to the sacrum — that takes only a few seconds. The measurement is repeated in different positions (bending forward, backward and sideways) to record posture and mobility. We then discuss the results with you in detail.

Is the spinal measurement painful?

No, the measurement is completely painless and involves barely any contact. The device is guided gently along the spine without applying pressure. No radiation is used, so the measurement can be repeated as often as you like.

Who is the spinal screening suitable for?

The screening suits everyone — from adolescents with posture questions through office workers with back complaints to athletes and older people. It is particularly recommended for recurring back pain, after a slipped disc, or to check progress after therapy. There are no contraindications.

How often should a spinal screening be done?

We recommend an annual check as part of preventive care. With existing complaints or ongoing therapy (physiotherapy, osteopathy, training), a shorter interval of three to six months can make sense in order to document progress objectively.

What does the spinal measurement in Vienna cost?

Spinal screening as an additional module costs € 70 including a professional evaluation. The comprehensive H+L Rückenradar programme (including a muscle function test and a discussion) costs € 180. The measurement can also be booked as part of our preventive checks.

What is the difference to an X-ray?

The MediMouse measurement is entirely radiation-free and can be repeated as often as you like — ideal for tracking progress. It measures not only the static shape but also the dynamic mobility of the spine. An X-ray, by contrast, shows bony structures and remains indicated where fractures or serious pathologies are suspected.

Do I get concrete recommendations after the measurement?

You receive a professional discussion in which we explain your results clearly and address building muscle and mobility — including general recommendations and the exercises from the device report. A personal training plan is not part of the examination; on request we are happy to recommend a qualified coach.
